Privacy policy
This policy explains what Hopper collects when you use the platform, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We try to keep it short and plain. If anything here is unclear, write to us at privacy@hopperapp.io.
1. Who we are
Hopper is an interview rehearsal platform operated by Hopper, Inc. (“Hopper,” “we,” “us”). When you use hopperapp.io or our connected services, Hopper is the data controller for the personal information described below.
2. What we collect
Account information. When you create an account we store your name, email address, and authentication identifiers from our sign-in provider.
Interview content. We store the inputs you provide to a simulation (job descriptions, resumes, company notes, free-form prompts) and the recordings, transcripts, and reports generated from your sessions.
Usage data. We log basic product usage (pages visited, features used, request timestamps, IP address, browser, device type) to operate the service, debug issues, and improve performance.
Payment data. If you upgrade to a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. Hopper does not store full card numbers. We retain a payment reference, plan, and billing email.
3. How we use it
To run the simulation you requested, including sending necessary inputs to our voice and language model providers so they can respond in real time.
To generate your post-interview report, including transcript analysis, skills assessment, and the action plan.
To operate, secure, and improve the service, including detecting abuse and diagnosing errors.
To communicate with you about product changes, account activity, and support requests.
To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Who we share data with
Service providers that power Hopper, under contract and only for the purposes described in this policy. Today these include Supabase (database and storage), Vapi (voice infrastructure), Anthropic (language model), and Stripe (payments).
Authorities, when we are required to by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
A successor, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you in advance and your data will remain subject to a policy at least as protective as this one.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use the content of your interviews to train third-party foundation models.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your settings.
Interview recordings, transcripts, and reports are retained while your account exists so you can revisit them. You can delete individual sessions at any time.
Backups and logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational reasons. Some records may be retained longer where required by law (for example, billing records).
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit, encryption at rest for stored content, scoped access controls for our team, and continuous monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your interview material seriously and we will notify affected users without undue delay if a breach materially impacts them.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by emailing privacy@hopperapp.io. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
Hopper is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Hopper is operated from the United States. If you access the service from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses and other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you by email or through the product before the changes take effect. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.
11. Contact
